TAKASBANK CHEQUE CLEARING SYSTEM

The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) has decided to make the electronic cheque clearing activities, which is carried out within the Interbank Cheque Clearing House (BTOM), within the scope of the first paragraph of Article 8 of the Cheque Law, numbered 5941. In this context, with the regulation on cheque clearing activities published in the Official Gazette numbered 3046, dated 09/06/2018, our bank has been accepted as the institution in which the cheque clearing and settlement activities will be carried out, effective from 02/07/2018.
 

Takasbank Cheque Clearing System has been established in order to ensure that cheques are paid by the bank branches in accordance with Article 5 of the regulation on Cheque Clearing activities and aims to provide intermediary for clearing, settlement and collateral management.

Clearing Process:

Information and images of cheques received by banks during the day, are reported to Takasbank by clearing packages until 6:00 a.m. the next day.

Cheque information transferred to the system by the banks through clearing packages at 06:00 a.m. is sent to the drawee banks via clearing distribution packages prepared by Takasbank, for the purpose of realizing provision transactions.

Banks check over the information transmitted with the clearing distribution packages between 06:00-17:45 on clearing day and transfer the return packages to the Takasbank system. Return cheque information is sent to the banks via return packages by the system after the return closure time.

Settlement:

Following the completion of the return distribution transactions, the net cash debt/receivable information that the members have to pay to the system on the following day, shall be notified to the members by the settlement file.

Cash obligations are sent to the CEKTK settlement account, which is opened by the banks,  at Takasbank until 12:00 at the latest.
